is this christmas?

the discussion of where christmas came from has been coming up alot lately. i purposely waited until after christmas to discuss this topic. it is very much a pagan holiday. we will examine many of the practices associated with christmas.
christmas actually means christ / mass.

the date is suppose to be the roman winter solstice called saturnalia or bruma, dec 25th, the actually date of jesus birthday is unknown or not acknowledge by western christian. the christmas-tree comes from the druid-priesthood in europe. they believe that evergreen trees had magical power because they stayed green when all other trees seem to die or lose their leaves during winter. the mistletoe has a odd role in christmas. the actual plant itself is a parasitic-plant which means it lives off other plants or trees. some say that it was used for or has aphrodisiac powers? which is why you kiss under the mistletoe. but that still seems odd for celebrity jesus christ birthday. the yule log also called the chocolate log in scandinavia. which is sort of a sacrifice of the evergreen tree. the gift giving in ancient times comes from the roman pagan holiday of saturnalia with is associated with saturn. in modern times from cola- cola promoting its ginger- ale drink. santa claus is a western figure found though-out europe. there are many association with santa claus st.nick, odin, and st. basil of caeserea, from looks to actions and practices.

none of these ideas or practices as you can see had very little or nothing at all to do with jesus christ. now much of our economy is driven by christmas holiday sales this is really sad! as i remember jesus, he was a very humble man and cared very little for material things. we have really lost are way! or do we really care as long as we get something for christmas?
