kwanzaa

Kwanzaa is a African- American holiday. It was started in the 1960s by Black Nationalist. Kwanzaa is a celebration of African culture and principles. There are seven (7) principals celebrated for seven (7) days!

1. Umoja/ {Unity}: to strive for and to maintain unity in the family, community, nation and race

2. Kujichagulia/ {Self- Determination}: to define ourselves, name ourselves, create for ourselves and speak for ourselves.

3. Ujima/ {Collective work and responsibility}: to build and maintain our community together and solve our problems together.

4.Ujamaa/ {Collective Economics}: to build, maintain and own our own shops and businesses in our community.

5. Nia/ {Purpose}: to work collectively to build our community, and restore our people to there former greatness.

6. Kummba/ {Creativity}: always do much as we can, so that others behind us benefit from the communities we leave behind.

7. Imani/ {Faith}: to believe in the Creator with all hearts.
