Black History Month / Charles R. Drew / blood tranfusion

Dr. Charles R. Drew 1904 to 1950
inventor of blood transfusion / blood banks

Dr. Charles Drew was a American physician / surgeon / medical researcher. It was Dr. Drew researcher in the field of plasma {blood} that lead to the improvement and reinventing of how blood was stored to create blood banks. His work saved many lives during World War II.

Dr. Drew protested racial desegregation, this eventually caused him to lose his job! Dr. Drew then became the first African- American to be selected to serve as a examiner on the American Board of Surgeons.

Dr. Drew was also selected to go to Great Brittan {England} to help them set up their blood bank system.

There are two (2) stories that surround Dr. Drew death? He was in a severe car crash but, one story says he died because he was denied treatment and a blood transfusion because he was Black?
The other stories says there was nothing anything could have done to save his life, his wounds were to server and he was going to regardless of what treatment he received? Some say this was a cover-up story once they {the hospital} found out who Dr. Drew was and he had been the inventor of blood transfusions!

Dr. Drew, we thank you, for your work, you have saved countless lives around the world.

peace, love and unity
