George Washington Carver 1864 to 1943
Genius, Botanist, Inventor Educator and Adviser
First things first carver was a Genius!
He is most famous for his work with the peanut!
Goober means peanut, the word is African in origin! {like the candy at the movies}. Carver made over 200 products from peanuts {goober} along! He also worked greatly with soybean and sweet potato {yam} also African in origin.
Carver was a very humble man, one of the humblest! He turned down a salary of a $100,000 a year {1 million today times} down to help poor farmers! He would help all he could! Which lead to his leading role in the recovery of America from the Dust Bowl 1930 to 1936 and some areas into the 1940s.
President Franklin D. Roosevelt appointed Caver to the job. Carver was one of many Blacks appointed to the Black Cabinet to help turn the country around and address the many issues of Black people.
Carver came up with crop rotation, and implemented into farming as a standard practice. He also worked with soybean a lot, many food are mixed with soy as filler such as hamburger and sausages! Carver also experimented with idea of soy milk! But there are many byproducts that come from peanuts and soybeans that are for industrial use.
His work with soybean help feed thousand of soldiers during the war!
Industry use of peanuts- metal polish, shaving cream, ink and paper. Industry use for soybean- inks, lubricants, crayons and bio- diesel.
Carver was presented with many awards for his work and inventions! Carver not only received awards in America, but in Europe as well!
Many people all over the world wanted to work with Carver! He was a leading scientist of his time, his work is still being studied. N.A.S.A. was using his work to grow plants out-of-space without any gravity!
Young people this is the lesson you can learn from George Washington Carver if you become good at what you do, money will chase you! But if you do not become good at anything you will become a paper chaser!
We thank George Washington Carver for all his charity and help! He could have made millions from all his invention unlike the man who wanted to hire him Thomas Edison.
